The Mallory Hotel, a Portland landmark, has been sold after being owned
by the same family for about 60 years.
According to the Portland Business Journal, “The Aspen Companies, led by
Gordon Sondland, purchased The Mallory Hotel and an associated parking
lot from Albert Gentner Jr. for an undisclosed price. The sale closed
Monday. The 67,456-square-foot hotel has a market value of nearly $4.75
million, according to the Multnomah County Assessor's Office.”
In the past, The Aspen Companies acquired the Imperial Hotel from the
same family and transformed it into the Hotel Lucia.
Sondland told the Portland Business Journal that Aspen will make minor
updates to the hotel, but doesn't intend an Imperial-style
transformation.
"A lot of people have a lot of memories there," he said of The Mallory.
"We don't intend to do that... We intend to keep the feeling and the
ambiance intact."
The Mallory is a boutique-style hotel with 130 guest rooms and suites.
The hotel is nestled between downtown Portland and the trendy Northwest
District.
The Mallory opened in 1912.
