Port of Portland to add new rail lines at Rivergate

The Port of Portland cut the ribbon this morning on a $14 million project to add rail lines to the Rivergate Industrial District in North Portland.

The work called the Ramsey Rail Facilities includes a second main rail line and four storage tracks, part of a larger plans for the entire Rivergate area.. They will at once add rail capacity while easing rail congestion.
The Ramsey facilities include about 14,000 feet of track that connects the north and south Rivergate area. The three storage tracks will allow Burlington Northern and Union Pacific to continuallly move rail cars north and south.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony included U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer and reprsentative of the Port, ODOT, Burlington Northern and Union Pacific.
