'Dog Stew' delivers pet food alternative
01:45 PM PDT on Monday, June 11, 2007
With scares about the tainted deadly pet foods in the U.S., a Portland man is finding a way to help concerned pet owners and be convenient at the same time.
Rick Woodford recently launched ‘Dog Stew,’ a homemade dog food company that delivers to your door.
Woodford started his recipes after his dog Jackson was diagnosed with lymphoma. He said raw diets did not boost Jackson’s immune system, so he set out to research what would make the best homemade meals for dogs.

“Commercial dog food is like feeding your dog a fast food meal with a multi-vitamin, Woodford said.
Dogs need just as much nutrition as humans, Woodford contends.
The company charges about $70 for 28 days worth of delivered meals, flavored in beef, chicken and turkey. They also have special diets for pooches that are sick or pregnant and young puppies.
