Rock and Roll Cafe abruptly closes in NE Portland

11:24 AM PDT on Tuesday, May 13, 2008

After being open for business less than a year Mark Lindsay’s Rock and Roll Café has closed its doors.

The former lead singer for one of this country's and the Northwest's own iconic groups of the sixties, Paul Revere and the Raiders, opened the memorabilia-filled restaurant in the Hollywood district in summer of 2007.

A note on the Web site Monday read; “Dear Wonderful Customers,

Sadly, we must reluctantly announce the closure of the Rock n’ Roll Café.

We have greatly appreciated your loyal support.”

The restaurant soon ran into legal trouble after resurrecting Portland’s "Yaw's Top Notch Menu" when the Yaw family claimed the menu did not fulfill contractual standards.

No reason was given for the closing.
