500 jobs added at HP's Oregon call center
11:49 AM PDT on Tuesday, May 13, 2008
BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Hewlett-Packard Co. officials say a call center in Beaverton that supports their customers is bursting at the seams and more workers may be needed.
Roughly 1,100 people work at the Stream call center, and 500 of them provide customer service support to Hewlett-Packard customers, said Siobhan Flanigan, a Hewlett-Packard spokeswoman.
Company officials did not disclose specifics of a possible expansion. It started working with the Stream facility in Beaverton last year as part of a customer support initiative.
Several companies have established customer support centers in the Portland suburbs. Netflix, Yahoo, Wells Fargo and Bank of America all have call centers in Hillsboro, and other companies are expected to follow.
