At Siam Society on Alberta, you may find among the diners some card carrying members of the "Choose Local" club.

"The Choose Local card is a locals loyalty card that is good for discounts all over the city, "says Kyle Collins with chooselocal.com. The card is free. Register it at chooselocal.com and once a month expect an email updating you on new discounts offered by local businesses.

"We're not out to spam everybody or sell their email. We don't want to make enemies. We're out to make friends," says Kyle.

It's different than a coupon book because a single business can offer different discounts all year.

"They are able to change thier offer at thier own discretion via our website," says Kyle.

"Maybe one month our special offer is an appetizer with every entree that comes in or we might want to change it up a little bit and say this week-- we're doing a free entree," says Siam Society owner Paul Van Slyke. He says the card works great for his business.

"We have plenty of opportunity to be creative with the card, and that's someting we really like, of course," says Paul.
