What if you could spend 20 dollars to save more than $5-thousand? In this Stretching Your Dollar installment, we've got a way for you to do just that.

KGW report on coupon books

Ever heard of the Chinook Book?

You spend 20 bucks to buy it and inside you find thousands of dollars worth of coupons-- for just about everything, says Jenn Adams who works for the company, EcoMetro, that publishes it: "Grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, entertainment, theater and museum discounts, travel and recreation, gardening, home repair, home weatherizations... I think there is something in there for everyone."

For 9 years now the Chinook Book has steadily grown from 10,000 published originally to 36,000 published in this latest book which is good through November '09. Local businesses are front and center in this book.

"It gets folks out exploring and enjoying their community and saving a ton of money while they do it," says Jenn.

You can find the book around town in places like grocery stores, restaurants, even local schools sell them to fundraise.

Beyond the book you can also sign up for weekly coupons online. To sign up for those online coupons or to learn more-- visit EcoMetro at: http://www.ecometro.com/portland/default.aspx.
