Consignment shops across town are seeing brisk business now.

They're a seller and buyers best friend, turning what people don't want into cash they can use. It's an easy way to Stretch your dollars.

At the corner of Northeast 30th and Killingsworth sits Milagros. For the past four years owner Tony Fuentas has been catering to everything baby.

Prices are about half what you'd pay for new.

It's why Susan Deerborn shop here all the time, because it save her money.

"A lot, yeah sometimes I'll have seventy dollars worth of credit". she said.

Susan uses the money to buy gently used clothing for her growing Sadie. Moms can also get outfitted. Milagros also consigns maternity wear.

And, it's not just kids stuff that has budget conscience shoppers looking for bargains.

At the Why Not Shop on Northeast Stark Avenue designer women's wear is on display. It all quality clothing that the previous owners didn't want anymore or were hoping to sell to upgrade their own wardrobe.

"We do the full run of coats and dresses and tops and bottoms and wonderful purses". said Charlotte Compa. She shops at the store where she works for the bargain and great cloths.

Consignment shops usually do a 40/60 spilt. Forty percent to the store and sixty percent to the seller.

And it's not just clothing that's bringing folks into consignment shops. Furniture is a cushion for owner Kelli Reidman, owner of Monticello Antique Marketplace.

Reidman has a special room set aside for garden and traditional furniture. It sells for about half of retail prices.

"As long as it's ready to sell, we'll take it on consignment" said Reidman.

So, from the cradle to the family rocker, consignment shops can be the hidden treasure chest of new found money.
