Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash that closed Highway 22 in West Salem

All the westbound lanes and an eastbound lane were closed for a couple hours Saturday afternoon near Rosewood Drive NW.

SALEM, Ore. — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash that closed several lanes of Highway 22 in West Salem Saturday afternoon. 

The crash occurred shortly before 2 p.m near Rosewood Drive NW. The motorcyclist was westbound on the highway when the driver of a Honda van pulled out of a driveway, into the path of the motorcyclist, according to Oregon State Police.

The motorcyclist, identified as 20-year-old Issac Esparaza, of Keizer, was taken to the hospital.

The driver of the van was not injured.

All the westbound lanes and an eastbound lane were closed following the crash. They were reopened around 5 p.m.
