Pedestrian hit and killed on I-84 at Fairview Parkway; one WB lane reopened

The pedestrian was walking on the westbound side of the freeway at around 5:18 a.m. when they were hit and killed, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said.

GRESHAM, Ore. — One westbound lane of Interstate 84 has reopened at Fairview Parkway near Gresham after a pedestrian was struck and killed on the freeway.

The pedestrian was walking on the westbound side of the freeway at around 5:18 a.m. when they were hit and killed, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said.

Despite the lane opening, there's still a significant delay on the freeway, and on surrounding streets.

Sandy Boulevard was one of the more heavily used detours to the north of I-84, and to a lesser extent, Halsey Street and Glisan Street to the south, as drivers worked their way back onto the freeway from 181st Avenue. Westbound Marine Drive was also heavily backed up Wednesday morning, into Troutdale at one point.
