PORTLAND, Ore. -- Highway 26 was backed up in both directions soon after snow quickly accumulated in the Portland metro area Tuesday night.

Both slowdowns occurred near the Oregon Zoo exit.

Westbound was completely blocked at around 8 p.m. A TriMet bus was seen among several vehicles stopped at the point where congestion began. Traffic was slowly getting by for about 2 hours before the road was cleared at around 10 p.m.

Shortly before the westbound lanes were blocked, two of the eastbound lanes were closed due to a crash. Portland police said multiple vehicles were involved and an ODOT worker was struck but no one was hurt.
