PORTLAND, Ore. -- Members of a kite team made their way home from Saudi Arabia this week.
Many of the team members are from Oregon. They went to the first ever kite festival held in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
They called themselves the Worldwide Wind Tribe. They took the kites with them on the trip, everything from sea animals to teddy bears and astronauts.
Phil Burks is one of the team members who made the trip. He said, “It was just a new batch of magic every day. We left kite friends in Saudi Arabia we’ll see the next time we go.”
The kite team considers their trip historic. The kite festival was a mixed-gender event with music and movies being played outdoors.
They also felt like they brought a little of the Northwest with them. It rained on the first day of the festival and was cloudy a couple of more days.
