PORTLAND, Ore. — Two local athletes were among 15 athletes named to the U.S. National Bobsled Team on Saturday.
USA Bobsled & Skeleton (USABS) named three pilots as well a pool of 12 push athletes who will compete for three pusher positions on the squad that will compete at the PyeongChang Winter Games.
Portland's Ryan Bailey and Gresham's Sam Michener are among the 12 push athletes. It is the first national team berth for Bailey, a 2007 graduate of Douglas McKay High School in Salem. Michener, who graduated in 2005 from Barlow High School in Gresham, is a returning national team veteran.
