PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland’s Jackie Wiles is home and starting her recovery from a serious leg injury during a World Cup race.

The injury will keep her out of the Olympics. She said Tuesday morning when she returned home, “I’m ready to get to that even higher level of skiing and I know what I need to get there.”

This would have been the second Olympics for Wiles.

Four time Olympian AJ Kitt knows Wiles and her commitment to the sport. “She’s a great skier and she’s been on fire this year,” he said. He’s experienced serious injuries and recovered from them to return to skiing. He say he has no doubt she’ll be back.

Wiles has said she’d like to be on the slopes again in the fall.
