PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Trail Blazers rookie Caleb Swanigan scored 18 points in 16 minutes and the Blazers lost to the Phoenix Suns, 114-112, in Portland's preseason opener.
The Blazers led by as many as 24 points in the first half and entered the final frame with a 12-point lead, but Phoenix rallied with a 41-point fourth quarter.

Swanigan made 6 of 10 shots, including both of his 3-point attempts, and added six rebounds. Fellow rookie Zach Collins had five points and a team-high eight rebounds in 22 minutes.

Damian Lillard had 18 points and four assists in 20 minutes, and Jusuf Nurkic had 16 points in 16 minutes for Portland. CJ McCollum scored 10 points but made only 4 of 14 shots.
TJ Warren led the Suns with 23 points and Devin Booker added 19. Josh Jackson, the No. 4 overall draft pick, scored 14.
