MCMINNVILLE, Ore—The Linfield Wildcats advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III football playoffs with a 27-13 win over Hardin Simmons over the weekend.
This is the ninth year in a row the Wildcats have made the playoffs. But it's the type of success that's come to be expected.
Linfield has more than 60 consecutive winnings seasons. That’s an NCAA record across all divisions.
The team has a strong fan base in the McMinnville community. Head coach Joseph Smith says “the fans are loud and exuberant and this is a special place.”
Linfield plays a second-round playoff game Saturday in Benton, Texas against top-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor. The teams played earlier this season in McMinnville. Mary Hardin-Baylor won that game 24-3, the only loss of the season for the Wildcats.
