WEST LINN, Ore. – The West Linn High School boys basketball team received a surprise gift during practice on Monday.

Video shared on the team’s Twitter account shows boxes of shoes donated to the team. The donation apparently came from NBA superstar LeBron James and Nike.

James also left a message for the four-time defending state champions. A player read it to his giddy teammates.

Not two, not three, not four. Time to get number five, boys!

You got some big shoes to fill this season. The target on your back has never been bigger.

But if no one wants it more than you, no one can take your crown.

Stay hungry, I’ll be watching.”

James responded to West Linn’s video, tweeting, “Let’s Go West Linn!! Good luck. #StriveForGreatness.

The donation appears to be part of a nationwide program as high schools across the country have been thanking the Cavaliers star for the new gear.

West Linn is only the second school to win four straight 6A boys basketball state championships. The incredible feat has not gone unrecognized and there will be plenty of excitement this winter as the Lions go for title No. 5.
