No. 2 Clackamas rolls No. 6 Tigard 52-7, advances to state title game

The Clackamas Cavaliers are heading to the state championship game.

HILLSBORO, Ore. -- A dominant first half performance on both sides of the ball propelled the No. 2 Clackamas Cavaliers to a 52-7 win over No. 6 Tigard in the 6A OSAA semifinals at Hillsboro Stadium Friday afternoon.

The Cavaliers, the state's only undefeated team, scored on the second play of scrimmage as quarterback Mitchell Modjeski connected with Cole Turner for a 63-yard touchdown pass. Turner finished the game with five catches for 110 yards and the touchdown.

Clackamas would score on a James Millspaugh 1-yard touchdown run to go up 14-0 less than five minutes into the game.

The Cavaliers overwhelmed the Tigers in the second quarter. Clackamas scored 28 points, including two touchdown catches by Chad Bletko, to build a 42-7 halftime lead before coasting in the second half to close out the victory.

Modjeski, a senior, completed 13 of 15 passes for 247 yards and three touchdowns to lead the offensive attack. He was also the Cavaliers' second-leading rusher with 38 yards. Millspaugh led Clackamas with 60 rushing yards.

Defensively, Clackamas forced five turnovers, which led to three of the second quarter touchdowns, including a fumble recovery for a touchdown by Kelsen Hennessy.

The Cavaliers, now 13-0 this season, will face No. 5 South Medford in the state championship game on Dec. 2 in Corvallis. South Medford defeated No. 1 Lake Oswego 49-27 in the other semifinal.
