TUCSON, Ariz. - A "Clown Lives Matter" peace walk has been scheduled for Oct. 15 in Tucson, according to a flyer posted to Facebook.
The flyer, which invites attendees to wear full clown makeup or a mask, says the walk will start at 6:30 p.m. on Fourth Avenue in Tucson.
The walk comes in response to a recent uptick in scary clown sightings and threats that have swept across the nation.
Hey, guys, time to cool the clown hysteria--most of em are good, cheer up the kiddies, make people laugh.— Stephen King (@StephenKing) October 3, 2016
According to the flyer, the walk's purpose is to show people clowns are "not psycho killers."
"We want the public to feel safe, and not be afraid. So come out, bring the family, meet a clown and get a hug!" the flyer read.
