GREENVILLE, N.C. (NBC) -- Christmas cards have a special way of warming hearts during the holidays.

This is especially true for Hayden Drake, a 5-year-old cancer patient in North Carolina.

Hayden has been battling Leukemia and dealing with the effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatment since earlier this year.

To make his Christmas extra special, he has one simple wish: to receive a whole bunch of Christmas cards with his name on them.

He goes to the mail box every day with a big smile on his face to check for more cards. So far, his wish is being realized as cards are trickling in.

Hayden's mom, Summer Avery, said he gets so excited about receiving cards, he even does a happy dance.

"Like yesterday, he got five cards in the mail and he does this little happy dance and he was doing the happy dance the whole time he was reading the cards," she said.

Although Hayden is in remission for his cancer now, he will need treatments for the next three years.

If you're interested in sending Hayden a card this Christmas, his address is 1637 Lum Buck Road, Greenville, NC 27858.
