HOOD RIVER, Ore. -- Teens were reportedly seen shooting off aerial fireworks several minutes before a portion of the Indian Creek Trail within the city limits of Hood River caught fire Saturday night, according to the Hood River police.

The fire is separate from the massive Eagle Creek Fire, which police believe was started by a 15-year-old Vancouver boy playing with fireworks.

The fire was first reported at 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 9.

Emergency crews were able to extinguish the fire after it had grown to just under two acres below the trail and between Third and Fifth streets, according to Hood River Fire Captain Manuel Irusta.

Nearby residents were warned of the fire but there were no evacuations.

"Although the exact cause of the fire is unknown at this time, a citizen called to report multiple juveniles in a dark colored pickup truck had stopped near Horizon School on Pacific Avenue and shot off aerial fireworks," the police department reported on its Facebook page.
