PORTLAND, Ore. - A stabbing downtown on Sunday evening sent a man to the hospital with serious injuries and tied up several blocks with yellow tape for hours.

Portland police said they responded at 6:02 p.m. to the report of a stabbing at Southwest 3rd Avenue and Oak Street.

Officers and medical personnel found a male in his 30s suffering from stab wounds.

The victim was transported by ambulance to a Portland hospital. He was treated for serious injuries, but is expected to survive.

Officers canvassing the area found a blood trail leading to the intersection of Southwest 4th Avenue and Pine Street.

At one point, the city’s emergency communications system reported 17 police units on scene.

The person or persons who stabbed the victim remain at large. Limited information indicates that three males ran from the area, one described as a Hispanic or Native American male in his 30s.
