More than three-fourths of Americans see the country as divided — a record high.
According to a Gallup poll released Monday, 77% of Americans believe the country is split over the most important values. Just 21% see America as united.
Americans are also split on whether President-elect Donald Trump will be able to unite the country (45% believe he will) or will further divide it (49%).
The poll of 1,019 U.S. adults was conducted Nov. 9-13 and has a margin of error of 4 points.
