WASHINGTON — Washington state congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler denounced Donald Trump on Saturday and said she will not vote for the Republican Party's presidential nominee.

Herrera Beutler said she will not vote for Hillary Clinton, but will write-in a vote for House Speaker Paul Ryan instead, according to The Columbian.

"For months I've left the door open for Donald Trump to earn my vote. That door has now slammed shut," she wrote in an email, according to the Columbian.

Regarding Ryan, Herrera Beutler wrote that the House Speaker would "serve this nation with honor."

For his part, during a conference call Monday morning with House Republicans, Ryan said he won't defend Trump now or in the future and will spend the next month defending his party's House majority.
