St. Helens, Ore. -- Police have arrested Abominable T. Snowman, 53, of St. Helens and accused the mythical creature of DUII and reckless driving.

Snowman was taken to the Columbia County jail where he was fingerprinted and booked. Bail was set at $1,250 for the 7 foot, 900 pound Snowman. He was expected to be arraigned Wednesday.

It was the first arrest by St. Helens police as part of a high visibility DUII enforcement campaign.

Snowman allegedly blew a .16, twice the legal limit in Oregon.

“Mr. Snowman admitted that he was driving home from a holiday party where he drank a little too much peppermint schnapps,” said Officer Claus. “He thought that he would be okay to drive the short distance back to his house. Clearly, that was not the case.”
