A small earthquake struck north of Salem Thursday morning. The U.S. Geological Survey said the magnitude 3.0 earthquake hit at 9:02 a.m. Pacific Time.

It struck about 6 miles northwest of Keizer and 7 miles west of Brooks at a depth of 6.8 miles.

An aftershock of 1.7 magnitude hit the same spot about an hour later, according to earthquaketrack.com.
