SALEM, Ore. – A Western Oregon University student died after a crash on Interstate 5 Tuesday evening in Salem.
Brandon Lin, 22, of Portland, was a passenger in a Honda Accord heading northbound on I-5 at around 5 p.m. That’s when at about milepost 256, the driver of the Honda attempted to change lanes but didn’t see a tow truck already in the lane, according to Oregon State Police.
The driver lost control of the Honda and crashed into a tree off of the right shoulder. Lin was taken to a hospital following the crash but later died. The driver and another passenger suffered minor injuries.
The tow truck driver was not hurt.
