Body of missing Gresham man recovered from Lewis River in Clark County

The body was identified Wednesday as 27-year-old Vadim Muhkin of Gresham, who was reported missing in late December. The cause of death is still undetermined.

CLARK COUNTY, Wash. – The body of a missing 27-year-old Gresham man was found in the east fork of the Lewis River on Saturday morning.

The Clark County Medical Examiner's Office identified the body as Vadim Muhkin on Wednesday. The cause of death is still undetermined.

Muhkin went missing during a camping trip with friends at the Sunset Falls campground in the Larch Mountain area. He was last seen on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017.

His coat was found in the water near the camp site, along the east fork of the Lewis River, on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said two fishermen reported seeing the body at 9 a.m. Deputies recovered the body about three-quarters of a mile below Daybreak Park.

The remains had been in the water for an extended period of time, deputies said

The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine a cause of death.
