PORTLAND, Ore. – At least two people were critically hurt and a third person was injured and pinned inside a vehicle after a head-on crash in Northwest Portland on Thursday afternoon, firefighters said.

A car and a large truck collided on Northwest Skyline Boulevard near Ash Street.

Crews had to cut through the roof of the car to rescue the person trapped inside, according to Portland Fire and Rescue.

Firefighters requested a LifeFlight helicopter to take one of the injured people to a hospital. The other two were taken to hospitals in ambulances.

Portland police said all three people suffered traumatic injuries.

It’s unclear what caused the collision. Portland police are investigating.
