SALEM, Ore. – Police say they believe a man who shot himself at a Salem gun range on Tuesday morning was trying to kill himself.
The man has died, police say, and they will not be releasing his name.
Police and medics were called to Tritac Shooting Solutions, located at 1400 Sunnyview Rd NE, just before noon Tuesday.
The man was alone in the range when the shooting occurred.
"Every indication is that he was a customer and had rented a firearm and purchased ammunition," said Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada.
Okada said police would review the store's surveillance video to help determine what happened.
Tritac employees and owners cooperated with police.
