Man surrenders after hours-long standoff at Milwaukie apartment complex

An hours-long standoff is over after a man peacefully surrendered to police in Milwaukie Friday night.

MILWAUKIE, Ore. – An hours-long standoff is over after a man surrendered to police in Milwaukie Friday night.

The standoff began shortly before 1 p.m. at the Crystal Lake apartments, located at Southeast Harrison Street and 26th Avenue.

The man, identified as 21-year-old Jarrett Anderson, threatened to harm himself, friends, family, and apartment residents by means of a handgun, Milwuakie police said.

Residents were evacuated during the standoff as officers talked with the Anderson. He surrendered at around 7 p.m.

Anderson was taken to a hospital for evaluation and will be lodged at the Clackamas County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct and menacing.
