SEASIDE, Ore. — A mother and her young son escaped a house fire in Seaside on Wednesday afternoon.

The mother tried to put out the flames after seeing smoke rising from the main floor of the two-story home. But the fire moved to a nearby wall and the mother and her son were able to get out of the home safely.

When crews arrived at the home, located at 719 Avenue S in Seaside, around 1:30 p.m., it was completely engulfed in flames.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
