PORTLAND, Ore. – A man was struck by a car and killed late Friday afternoon in Northeast Portland.
The collision was reported shortly before 4:30 p.m. at Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, between Union Court and Marine Drive.
The pedestrian, who is a man, was found suffering from traumatic injuries. He was taken to a hospital but did not survive, according to Portland police. He has not been identified.
The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.
Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed in both directions between Marine Drive and Union Court for several hours. Drivers who want to get to Interstate 5 should seek alternate access points to the south, or from Marine Drive only.
