GRESHAM, Ore. – A wanted man was arrested after an hours-long standoff in Gresham on Friday.
The US Marshals Office attempted to arrest the 29-year-old man on a federal warrant at around 1:30 p.m. But he ran away from officers and made his way to the roof of a home in the 800 block of Northeast 178th Street.
Residents were inside the home at the time time the man climbed on the roof. They were evacuated safely.
The man and residents did not know each other.
While on the roof, the man held a knife up against his throat and threaten to harm himself, police said.
The man agreed to come down and was taken into custody without harm at around 7 p.m.
