PORTLAND, Ore. -- A burglary suspect who ran into the woods in Southwest Portland found himself stuck at the bottom of a ravine, being told by police to climb back up.
Officers were dispatched about 9 p.m. to the 3800 block of Southwest Arnold Street. They found a man at the bottom of the ravine matching the suspect's description.
The suspect climbed out, tried to flee and fell back down into the ravine. Officers went down into the ravine and took him into custody.
The Portland Fire & Rescue Bureau assisted Portland police to bring the suspect up and out in a basket.
Keith G. Matson, 22, was taken to a hospital, treated and released into the county jail.
He was accused of first-degree criminal trespass; second-degree criminal mischief; unlawful entry of a motor vehicle; third-degree theft and two counts of third-degree escape.
He had two outstanding warrants for first-degree burglary and fourth-degree assault.
