PORTLAND, Ore. -- A Clackamas County dive team recovered the body of an 18-year-old man who had been missing since March 12.
Divers pulled the body of Brandon Powell, 18, from the Clackamas River on April 28 after a 911 caller reported seeing a body floating about 100 yards away from a boat ramp.
Powell's cause of death has not been determined, but police said there were no signs of foul play.
Family members said Powell left his home early in the morning on March 12 wearing only pajama pants. Powell’s family told police he had just smoked a dab, which is a highly concentrated marijuana extract.
“He said that he was just walking outside to get some air,” said his 16-year-old brother, Isaac Powell. “As soon as he hit the street, he kind of just ran.”
Mountain Wave Search and Rescue joined the search for Powell. Family and friends also organized an extensive search.
“Brandon's a great kid, big heart,” said family friend Liz Benedick.
