PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Trail Blazers celebrated the franchise’s first ever LGBTQ Pride Night on Tuesday.

The Blazers rolled out and sold out sweatshirts with a rainbow-colored “Rip City” logo. Proceeds from their sales went to support the Q Center. The Blazers also held a reception fundraiser for the nonprofit.

Q Center co-executive director Stacey Rice said the celebration couldn’t have come at a better time.

“With what's going on in the world today, a lot of the LGBTQ community is a little anxious about what's going to happen,” said Rice. “What this does is gives us a chance to come together with community and actually celebrate and have some joy.”

The Portland Gay Men’s Chorus sang the national anthem and the lights outside the Moda Center lit up the night in rainbow colors.
