New surveillance video released of unsolved Portland murder

More than $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A Southeast Portland woman is offering a hefty reward for information that leads to her husband’s killer.

“I don’t want his death to be in vain,” said Lashaunda Jackson-Gatson. “Maurice was a loving person.”

Lashaunda’s husband, Maurice Gatson, was gunned down in the early morning hours of Oct. 3, 2015. It happened outside the Pallas Club near Southeast 136th Avenue and Powell Boulevard.

“It’s been hard,” she said.

It is difficult because Gatson’s murder remains unsolved. Detectives released surveillance video of the deadly shooting in hopes that it would generate some leads.

“I needed to look at it to see his last moments,” Lashaunda said of the video. “I wish I hadn’t.”

Lashaunda says she cannot get the video out of her mind, nor the fact that nobody is talking to police. She is hoping the $15,000 she is offering and the $2,500 from Crime Stoppers will convince someone to shatter the silence and come forward.

“We need closure,” said Lashaunda. “It’s been two years too long.”

Anyone with information about Gatson’s death is urged to contact the Portland Police Bureau.
