MCMINNVILLE, Ore. -- A 50-year-old man was shot by a homeowner during a break-in at a McMinnville home on Sunday morning.
Police say a break-in was in progress at about 6:11 a.m. Sunday when the homeowner shot the intruder inside a home in the 1300 block of SW Gilorr Street near Claremont.
The homeowner told police the suspect tried to get into the house about 30 minutes earlier, but was told to leave. Officers searched the neighborhood but could not find anyone matching the suspect's description.
The suspect, Larry Baker of McMinnville, returned to the house and broke glass to try and unlock the door, police said. That's when the homeowner shot Baker.
Baker was treated and released from a hospital. He was then arrested and charged with criminal mischief, trespassing and stalking.
