PORTLAND, Ore. – One person was stabbed on a TriMet MAX train Tuesday afternoon.

The stabbing occurred during a fight on a train at the Denver Transit Station in North Portland. Police were called to the transit center at 3:40 p.m.

The victim, a 19-year-old man, was taken away by ambulance with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, according to Portland police.

Based on information learned at the scene, officers located and detained the suspect, 30-year-old James Luckey, on a MAX train at the Rosa Parks Transit Station.

Police said Luckey approached the 19-year-old and assaulted him. Luckey was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

MAX Yellow Line service was disrupted.
