PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland police and fire investigators are looking for suspects after someone spray-painted “FK Trump” on at least two cars and set fire to a Ford Mustang that had a pro-Trump sticker early Friday morning.

The cars were vandalized near Southeast Ash Street and 9th Avenue. Portland firefighters responded to a car fire at 12:30 a.m. and found the burning Ford Mustang.

Once the fire was out, firefighters noticed that the mustang and a Volvo parked in front of it both had been spray-painted with the words “FK Trump.”

The owner of the Mustang is a former Marine who said he's surprised to see the vandalism in Portland.

"Being a former Marine, you don't expect this to happen in your hometown," Jermaine Streeter said. "It's frustrating. I felt hurt at the same time because I didn't do anything to anybody."

Streeter assumes the car is a total loss and says that type of destruction is counterproductive.

"I just feel with all the hatred, it's not going to change anything. The U.S. has spoken and they've picked Trump as the next president. Rioting, destroying things isn't going to get your way and the younger generation needs to know how things work in life."

The owner of the Volvo agrees with Streeter's sentiment.

"I understand we're in a fragile time right now and everyone is angry, sad and confused but clearly vandalism and violence aren't the answer. It just causes more problems," Chevonne Ball said.

Ball plans on using graffiti remover to clean up her car.

A witness told police that he heard what he thought was an explosion and saw a person jumping in place several times next to the burning Mustang. The person then ran away southbound on 9th Avenue. The witness said the suspect was thin with an average height and dark clothing.

Crime Stoppers of Oregon is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrested in the case.
