PORTLAND, Ore. – Coffee Fest is underway at the Oregon Convention Center, a trade show specifically for those in the coffee industry.
This is the 81st Coffee Fest, and the third time it's back in Portland.
It’s the end all, be all place for business owners to learn everything about the coffee industry, including what’s new, and what’s fresh, and to connect with local and national vendors.
It’s also a place to find the latest trends. This year, cold brew is the “hottest” trend, along with chai.
“You find everything in front of the counter, behind the counter, and the people that make the counter,” laughed show director Erika Lowery.
She says Portland really stands out for being a city that loves its coffee.
“You talk about ‘keep Portland weird’ and all the great things, but it embraces a different culture. Each café is so different we have every extreme here,” she said. “It also has, just like it's done with microbreweries and beer over the past couple years, there’s more cafes and roasters opening in Portland than almost anywhere else in the us right now. “
