Oregon cities where rents are highest

The markets with the biggest month-to-month rent increases saw monthly upticks above 1%, while the slowest-growing markets held flat.

PORTLAND, Ore. — The rent in Portland is not cheap, but it is not the highest in the region.

According to a monthly rent report by the online data source RentCafe.com, Portland's average rent for July was more than $1,500 a month. That's higher than the national average of $1,469, according to the website, but lower than some of the city's suburbs.

The website compared 19 cities in the state, mostly in the Portland area and along the populated western side of the state, and tracked July rents compared with rates in June.
