Actor Ron Glass, best known for his work on the mid-1970s comedy Barney Miller, has died at 71.
An Indiana native and University of Evansville graduate, Glass earned a supporting-actor Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Detective Ron Harris, an ambitious intellectual who yearned to be an author.
He is the second member of the Barney Miller cast to die in 2016; Abe Vigoda, who played Phil Fish, passed away in January.

Ron Glass was one of the greatest actors to work with. His laugh was beyond infectious and his generosity was ever present. #ripronglass— alan tudyk (@AlanTudyk) November 26, 2016
