PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Gov. Ted Kulongoski says Oregon will seek a share of $300 million in federal stimulus money set aside to promote purchases of electric cars and charging stations.

Kulongoski made the announcement Wednesday in Portland at a news conference with officials of the carmaker Mitsubishi and the utility Portland General Electric.

Then he took a spin in Mitsubishi's new all-electric vehicle, his third test drive in an electric car in recent weeks.

Kulongoski says the state is looking for commitments from public and private interests who would buy electric cars or install stations to charge them.
