Eugene and Portland finished at the top of the list in the Green Cities Index.

The index ranks cities across the country based on their interest in "going green" behind the wheel.

Cities were ranked by the number of searches for hybrid vehicles by consumers as a percentage of overall car searches.

Eugene topped the list, followed by Portland and Santa Barbara, California. Eight of the top 10 cities for "Green" car searches were in Oregon, Washington and California.

Cities in the South lagged behind other parts of the country. Seven of the 10 bottom cities in "Green" car searches came from Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. According to Cars.com, Laredo, Texas ranked last on the Green Cities Index.
