Pig makes dash for freedom into Salem traffic
11:34 AM PDT on Thursday, July 10, 2008
SALEM, Ore. -- Things got a little hog-wild in Salem Wednesday.
A 250-pound pig destined for the Marion County Fair made a dash for freedom during rush-hour traffic.
The loose pig was finally lassoed by Salem police officers.
The driver of the truck hauling the pig had no idea that the animal had escaped because no marks were found on the walls of the 4-foot-tall trailer.
Last year, a Texas longhorn cow named Pastel escaped from handlers at the fair and ran through the streets of Salem until she was corralled by police and fire responders.
