SALEM, Ore. – A cougar has been spotted prowling around a Salem cemetery and trails, Oregon fish and Wildlife Department officials said.

A cougar looks down from its perch in a tree.
It was seen near the Blecrest Cemetery over the weekend.
Crews posted signs along the hiking trail near Croisan Scenic Way S. near Browning Ave. S.
ODFW spokesman Michelle Dennehy said there are plenty of deer in the area, which cougars prefer as a food source.
The Statesman Journal also reported a pet cat had been killed, and neighbors were circulating fliers in the area to warn others.
