Amy Troy co-anchors NewsChannel 8’s weekend evening newscasts and reports during the week. She is a graduate of the University of Oregon Journalism School in Eugene, Oregon. Her broadcast career began just out of college in Bend, Oregon where she was an anchor, reporter, and producer. After two years she moved to Eugene where her anchoring and reporting career continued. Then, it was off to San Antonio where Amy was the weekend anchor and reporter. Moving on, Amy spent four years in Salt Lake City as an anchor and reporter. Then she moved to Phoenix where she anchored weekend newscasts and reported during the week before making her move to Portland.
Amy has received a number of awards including a “Best Newscast” Emmy for her work in Salt Lake and two Emmy nominations for “Spot News Reporting” and “Cultural Issues Reporting.” She also received a Utah Broadcasters Award for Children’s Initiative Reporting. As part of a 3-member team on a story about a Transgender Teenager, “Kaden,” she won an Edward R. Murrow and an Arizona Broadcasters Association Award in 2005. One highlight of Amy’s career was spending a month in Syndey, Australia, covering the 2000 Summer Olympics.
When she’s not working, Amy’s galloping her horse Buck. She is a lifelong equestrian and avid outdoorswoman. She’s thrilled to be back in her home state of Oregon with her family.
