Stephanie Stricklen hosts Live @ 7 on KGW NewsChannel 8. From weekends, to days, to mornings, and beyond... she's worked at the station since the summer of 2000.
As a Northwest gal through and through, she has spent her entire life in this area. She also has the travel bug and has checked out many other parts of the country and abroad. She feels lucky to always return home to such a beautiful place.
Her travels covering the Olympics have taken her to Salt Lake City, Greece, Italy and China for weeks on end. She says spending 6 weeks living in other countries really gives her a feel for them that she doesn't normally get on the standard 10-day tourist trip.
Her job has allowed her to meet amazing people like the Dalai Lama, rappel down a cliff, go spelunking, play with baby bears, witness surgeries, and even take a thrilling 45 minute flight with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels in one of the team's F-18 fighter jets.
Steph most enjoys spending time with her husband John. They met in college when she was 20 and became best friends before they started dating. They love the coast at all times of year, hauling their travel trailer wherever they feel like going. Back in 2006, something clicked in Steph's brain and she developed a passion for cooking. She and John also help keep a lot of sushi restaurants in business.
Steph loves writing, photography, painting, making jewelry and, really, pretty much any other creative project that lets her spend money on new supplies.
She blogs, and she answers just about every email that she gets (although it may take a day or two).
